The Sidney Board of Education consists of five elected and one standing member, that being the district Treasurer. The elected positions are a four year term and staggered every two years, meaning that three positions are up for election one year and the remaining two are elected two years later. Upper Valley Career Center opened their doors in 1975 and has served the community as a center of excellence in career and technical education since. Corporate objective is to prepare youth and adults for success in a global society. Main campus located in Piqua. In addition, there are several Adult Div. facilities including The Applied Tech. Center and the Garby Conference and Learning Center in Piqua and the Stouder Center located nearby in Troy. The UVJVS High School serves over 700 high school juniors & seniors in 19 career-technical programs offered on the main campus. UVJVS offers a diverse range of satellite programs in 14 associate schools serving grades 9-12. UVJVS adult students may be seeking training for a new career or simply enhancing skills to advance in an existing career. Local Corporations count on the UVJVS for their unique workforce development needs delivered in fully customizing training packages. The school's Alternative Energy and Green Systems Mgmt Program was the 1st full-time career-tech program in the state to include a fully functioning wind turbine and solar voltaic installation on site.
