2009

Bus to the Bahamas
April 20-29 $1,849
This trip is in replacement of our usual Snowbird trip as World of Travel is not offering any Snowbird trip this year. They have had a declined every year in the number of Snowbird trip goers and had to cancel last year’s altogether. We’re hoping you’ll agree that this trip is going to be just as much fun as any Snowbird trip we’ve ever offered.

This trip features transportation aboard a deluxe motor coach to Nashville Tennessee, with an overnight stay at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel. Then on to Savannah Georgia for a 2 night stay with dinner at Paula Deen’s famous “The Lady & Sons Restaurant”. Then on to Jacksonville Florida where you’ll board Carnival’s “Fascination” Cruise ship for 4 nights. With ports in Freeport and Nassau, Bahamas, before returning to shore and then off to Georgia again, this time Atlanta! A behind the scenes tour of CNN and then off to Berea, Kentucky for a one night stay, including dinner at Boone Tavern.

California Rail Discovery
September 2009 $2,635 - 7 days/6 nights
This trip will feature 2 rail experiences, Napa Valley Wine train and the Sierra Nevada Rail Journey. Two cruise experiences, San Francisco Bay Cruise and Lake Tahoe Paddlewheeler Cruise. 3 night stay in San Francisco, 1 night in Sacramento, and 2 nights at Lake Tahoe.
This will be a flight trip, not motorcoach. You will fly out to California and back, with motorcoach providing transportation in California and Nevada only. This does include shuttle service to and from the airport from the Senior Center. Please stop in to the Center for final details as this info was not available at press time.

Effective April 4th, 2008, The Board of Trustees of the Senior Center of Sidney-Shelby County has approved a revised Trip Policy.  For a copy of the revised Trip Policy, please stop in to the Senior Center and visit our trip corner.  We will have extra copies on hand for you.  We have listed some important highlights below for your review.  We will list more in the next newsletter, or please feel free to stop in for your own copy.

  1. In order to be considered confirmed for a trip, a deposit must be paid at the time of reservation.  If there is limited room on a trip, it will be the first ones who have put down a deposit that will be reserved to go.
  1. Should you need to cancel after the deadline has passed, a refund can be given if someone is able to fill your seat.  The Center will refer to the waiting list (if available) for replacements.  If we cannot fill your seat through this process, it will be your responsibility to find someone to take your place.
    1.  If the Center finds your replacement, all monies paid, minus the cancellation fee, will be returned to the original person registered to attend the trip.
    2. If you have found your replacement, all money you have paid will be applied to your replacement.  Your replacement will need to pay their trip fee directly to you.  The Center will not collect trip fees from replacements found by an individual.
  1. There is a $5.00 non refundable cancellation charge, if the cancellation is made by you and is prior to the deadlines. If the travel agency or the Senior Center cancels the trip, all monies paid will be refunded.
  2. Refunds will be given 30 days after cancellation.
  3. All non-members must pay an additional $20 fee at the time of deposit for each trip they attend.
  4. Every attempt will be made to reach you (courtesy calls) and give you particular trip information prior to the trip departure.
  5. The Senior Center or Bus Company cannot be held accountable for expected time back. If you go on a trip, do not expect to return at a particular time. (Hint: Do not plan an activity for the evening of a trip; you may not be back. All times are approximate.)
  6. If you have special needs or require special assistance, you will need to provide your own caregiver or escort for each trip you attend.
